Pakistan Supreme Court rejects ex- PM Nawaz Sharif’s petition for bail extension
Islamabad,May 3 (IBNS): The Pakistan Supreme Court on Friday rejected country's former PM Nawaz Sharif's petition which demanded for an extension in the bail granted to him on medical grounds in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference, media reports said.
According to Geo News, a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa also rejected the premier's plea to allow him to travel abroad for treatment.
On medical grounds, the Pakistan PM was granted bail by the spex court of the country on Mar 26.
His bail will expire on May 7.
Following his conviction in Al Azizia corruption reference in line with the Supreme Court’s July 2017 verdict, Sharif has been in jail since December 2018.
He has served Pakistan as its PM for three times in his career.
