Taiwan: Taiwan's Ministry of Defence said as many as 28 Chinese military planes flew into the country's Air Defense Identification Zones (ADIZ) on Tuesday.

The incident marked the largest incursion since the self-ruled island began regularly reporting such actions since last year.

Taiwan's Defence Ministry tweeted: "28 PLA aircraft (Y-8 ASW, H-6*4, Y-8 EW, KJ-500 AEW&C*2, J-16*14 and J-11*6) entered #Taiwan’s southwest ADIZ on June. 15, 2021. Please check our official website for more information."

Tuesday's flights -- which included fighter jets, bombers, and anti-submarine and early warning aircraft -- surpassed the previous peak of 25 planes reported April 12.

Interestingly, Beijing claims full sovereignty over Taiwan.

However, Taiwan sees itself as an independent nation.
