Thailand reports 127 new COVID-19 cases, 1,651 in total
Bangkok/Xinhua/UNI: Thailand's Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday reported 127 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections to 1,651.
One person has died, bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 10.
The fatality was a 48-year-old male musician, who had diabetes, cancer and hepatitis and died of respiratory failure.
Government spokesman Taweesin Visanuyothin confirmed on Tuesday that Bangkok will not announce further measures or shut down the city.
"As the number of daily confirmed cases remains at an acceptable level, Bangkok officials will not announce more measures to force people to stay at home," said Taweesin, asking for public cooperation "to flatten the curve of confirmed cases."
The new infections were mostly connected to cluster cases including returnees from overseas, the boxing event, entertainment venues, or had close contacts with those who were previously infected, according to the ministry.
There are 1,299 still under treatment, of whom 23 are in a critical condition.
