Three suspected Rohingya 'robbers' killed in Bangladesh
Dhaka, Apr 6 (IBNS): At least three suspected Rohingya 'robbers' were killed during a 'gunfight' with the police in Habiber Ghona hilly area in Bangladesh's Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar on Saturday, media reports said.
The deceased were identified as Nur Alam, 23, Mohammad Jubayer, 20, and Hamid Ullah, 21, residents of 'A-block' of Nayapara Rohingya camp at Hnila union of the upazila, reported The Daily Star.
Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station, told the newspaper that on information that a gang of robbers was depositing arms in the hilly area, a team of police conducted a drive around 2:30am.
Sensing the presence of police, the gang members opened fire, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight, reported the newspaper.
Three suspected robbers, who sustained bullet injuries, were recovered from the spot.
They later died.
