Toronto, Aug 6 (IBNS): Torontonians welcomed the grand parade of the 52nd anniversary of Caribbean Carnival, when masqueraders in colourful costumes as made their way from the assembly area at Exhibition Place along Lake Shore Boulevard, Toronto, media reports said.

Caribbean Carnival in the English speaking world stands for a series of events taking place almost the whole year in many of the Caribbean islands annually and worldwide.

Also known as Caribana and Caribanafesthe, Toronto Caribbean Carnival is a festival of Caribbean culture and traditions held each summer in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Considered as one of North America’s largest street festivals, Toronto’s Caribbean Carnival is being held since the late 1960s and attracts more than 1.3 million people each year from around the globe.

In an effort to send a message about body positivity, a group of topless women took part in Toronto Caribbean Carnival’s parade.

Toronto Mayor John Tory, a regular participant in the festivities, could not participate this year, as he recovers from surgery on his Achilles tendon. In a tweet, he sent best wishes to all those enjoying the festivities.

The grand parade came to end last night, after great pomp and glory celebrations.
