Dhaka, Apr 25 (IBNS): A local staff of USAID and his friend were stabbed to death by miscreants in Bangladesh capital Dhaka on Monday.

The USAID staff has been identified as Xulhaz Mannan.

Talking to The Daily Star, Mohammed Iqbal, officer-in-charge of Kalabagan Police Station, said they suspect the involvement of militants in the killing.

The identity of the other person is not known so far.

BBC reported that Xulhaz Mannan was a gay rights activist and an editor at LGBT magazine Roopbaan.

The incident occurred just days after a professor was killed by suspected IS militants in Rajshahi.

Militant group ISIS on Saturday took responsibility for the killing of Bangladeshi professor Rezaul Karim Siddiquee.
