New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated his newly-elected Maldives counterpart President Mohamed Muizzu.
In his message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured India’s continued commitment to strengthen time-tested bilateral ties with Maldives.

Muizzu was declared the winner after he emerged victorious, winning 54 percent of the votes against incumbent President Mohamed Solih in the second and final run-off for the presidential polls.
Mohamed Muizzu, who has pushed for stronger ties with China, secured an 8-point lead over Solih, with nearly all votes counted in his kitty.
The voter turnout was reported at 85 percent.
