Patna, Dec 7 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): The education department in Bihar has asked the mushrooming coaching institutes to register themselves with the government by January 31, failing which severe punitive action will be initiated against them.

Bihar education department minister Ashok Chaudhary issued the directive on Wednesday after holding a review meeting of the department concerned.

As per the directive, the coaching institutes running across the state are required to register themselves with the government and ensure compliance of basic infrastructure and facilities lack of which cause much inconvenience to the students enrolled therein.

The Coaching Institute Act is effective in Bihar since May 2010 but so far only around 2,000 have registered them with the government.

The government has announced to shut down the institutes which fail to comply with the order within the stipulated period.
