Jaya Misra launches her new collection Mosaic

Kolkata, August 31 (IBNS): Noted fashion designer Jaya Misra unveiled her new line of contemporary outfits called 'Mosaic', recently in Kolkata, in the presence of Priyadarshini Chatterjee, Femina Miss India 2016.

Speaking about the Mosaic collection, Misra said, “This is a digital print, taken from ‘Op’ art or geometrical art, the colours mostly sober and light hues. The collection includes a lot of cuts, including jackets, dhoti pants, crepes.”

“The outfits are mostly for the modern women, including college going girls; they are easy to wear yet can be worn for formal occasions such as a wedding," said Misra.

The collection consists of an exhaustive range of jackets, palazzos, skirts, kurtas, capes, lehengas, sarees done up in detailed machine embroidery and zardosi work in shades of black, grey, powder blue, powder pink, yellow, orange and sap green.

Even the fabrics used are of a diverse range; from pure silk, habutai, cotton satin, silk mulmul to cotton modal and georgette, while the designs have been inspired from various architecture and landscapes, including Barcelona, Portugal and traditional Dutch designs.

“Most collections nowadays are designed for the younger crowd, or women of a certain age bracket. I wanted to change that and cater to all age groups and yet be innovative and different, from the traditional floral and paisley designs," said Misra.

“Style is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma. Mosaic aims to match every woman’s choice and personality and it is the ethos of classic elegance and a contemporary sensibility," elaborated Misra.

“It was definitely a challenge to come up with this collection because the idea is to bring something new with every collection and not recreate the same thing. In terms of creativity, that was the basic concept," elaborated the designer.

Jaya Misra, who has styled clothes for Amitabh Bacchan, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty, Jacqueline Fernandez, Konkona Sen Sharma and Rituparna Sengupta among others, retails from Delhi, Mumbai, Ludhiana and Bangalore, while her collection is also on display in Dubai, Hong Kong and London.

Post Mosaic, the designer will be travelling across the globe, to Jakarta and Hong Kong among others while several ramp events are in the pipeline.
