Meet Fatima Bosch: The Mexican who turned challenges into a Miss Universe victory

| @indiablooms | Nov 21, 2025, at 01:11 pm

Mexico's Fatima Bosch, whose moment of getting publicly reprimanded by Thai pageant director during live streaming went viral, has been crowned Miss Universe 2025 in Thailand.

The 25-year-old, whose way of dealing with the situation in a calm manner won hearts on the internet, received the crown from last year's winner Victoria Kjaer Theilvig of Denmark.

Thailand's Praveenar Singh became the runner-up followed by Venezuela's Stephany Abasali, Philippines' Ahtisa Manalo and Ivory Coast's Olivia Yace to grab the third, fourth and fifth spot respectively.

Who is Fatima Bosch?

Born May 19, 2000, in Santiago de Teapa, Tabasco, Mexico, Fatima studied fashion and apparel design at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.

She continued her education abroad at NABA in Milan, Italy, and also at the Lyndon Institute in Vermont, USA.

In September 2025, she was crowned Miss Universe Mexico 2025, representing Tabasco.

On November 20, 2025, she won the 74th Miss Universe pageant held in Thailand, defeating over 120 contestants.

When she was reprimanded publicly by the pageant director, Nawat Itsaragrisil, who allegedly insulted her, calling her “dumb" in Thailand, several contestants walked out in solidarity with her, making a powerful statement about respect and dignity.

The incident has sparked broader conversations about misogyny, professionalism, and respect in pageantry.

Fatima has spoken publicly about her struggles with dyslexia, ADHD, and hyperactivity during her school years.

She uses her platform to advocate for neurodiversity, self‑acceptance, and empowerment.

She’s passionate about sustainable fashion — designing clothes using discarded materials to reduce waste.

She is involved in volunteer work, especially for children with cancer and migrants, through her initiatives Ruta Monarca and Corazón Migrante.
