Bhubaneswar/UNI: All the Chief Ministers of the country will be invited to watch the 2023 Men’s World Cup Hockey, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced on Thursday.

Presiding over an all-party meeting convened for the smooth management of the World Cup hockey, the Chief Minister sought the cooperation of all political parties for the success of the sports event.

Patnaik thanked the Union government, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their cooperation in the preparation of the World Cup hockey.

Patnaik appealed to all to work unitedly for the organization of the World Cup as it is not only of  Odisha but linked with the honour of the whole country.

Participating in the meeting leaders of various political parties said the organisation of the event for the second consecutive time has enhanced the standing of Odisha and thanked the state government for its efforts in this regard.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan praised the state government for organising the event and said all should work together to ensure that at least 100 Olympians emerge in 2036 on

the occasion of the centenary celebration of the formation of the special state.

He suggested including the organisation of the World Cup consecutively twice in the school curriculum.

Pradhan also suggested to rope in people for sanitation of Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, branding the Bhubaneswar -Rourkela railway line for World Cup hockey and to popularise the local Odia sports.

Congress Legislature leader Narasingha Mishra suggested setting up hockey stadiums in every district.
