Guwahati/UNI: The Assam Government Wednesday released standard operating procedures for the upcoming Durga Puja.

Announcing the SOP, Health Minister Keshab Mahanta informed that all puja committees will have to take prior permission from the district administration for organising the puja celebrations.

Under the SOP vaccination certificates ( of at least the first dose) of all puja committee members have to be submitted with the application for acquiring permission for celebrations.

"Members should be vaccinated with the first dose and also the second dose within the prescribed time. The government has provided all facilities for vaccination. Hence no excuse will be accepted if members fail to get the second jab within the time limit," Mahanta added.

Moreover, no cultural functions will be allowed in puja mandaps.

The government has urged the organizers to keep the size of the puja idol small.

Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) to issue notification on the size limit of the idol. Puja pandal to be set up in open space.
