Assam: Man beaten to death by mob on suspicion of being cow thief

Guwahati: A 28-year-old man was beaten to death by a mob on suspicion of being a cow thief in a village in Assam’s Tinsukia district.

The incident took place at Korzonga Borpathar area under Baghjan police station on Saturday.

According to the Tinsukia district police, locals saw two persons near a cow shed which built near a house in the wee hours of Saturday and caught one of duo.

Some people of the village tied hands of the man and took him to an open field and they started beating him.

The man died on spot in mob attack.

The victim man was identified as Sarat Moran – a resident of No.1 Kordoiguri village in Tinsukia district.

Tinsukia district police have registered a case and so far picked up 12 persons in connection with the incident.

Tinsukia district Superintendent of Police (SP) Debojit Deori said that, a special investigation team headed by Additional SP has been formed to probe the matter and so far picked up 12 persons.
