Big defence push: Rajnath Singh to hold high-stakes talks with Italy’s Defence Minister

| @indiablooms | Apr 29, 2026, at 06:19 pm

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will hold bilateral talks with Italy’s Defence Minister Guido Crosetto in New Delhi on April 30.

During the meeting, the two ministers are expected to discuss a wide range of issues related to defence cooperation between India and Italy, including expanding strategic and industrial partnerships.

They are also likely to exchange views on key regional and global security issues amid the evolving geopolitical and security landscape.

Defence cooperation between India and Italy gained significant momentum after Rajnath Singh’s visit to Rome in October 2023, which helped strengthen bilateral engagement in the defence sector.

Crosetto’s maiden visit to India highlights the commitment of both nations to deepen existing ties and explore new avenues of collaboration, particularly in the defence industrial partnership domain.

The signing of the India-EU Defence and Strategic Partnership in January 2026 has further signalled growing strategic convergence and provided fresh impetus to defence industrial cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
