BJP will win 50 of 60 seats in first two phases of Bengal Assembly polls: Amit Shah
Sitalkunchi/Kalchini/UNI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday predicted that BJP would win at least 50 seats out of 60 assembly seats which went for polls in the first two phases in West Bengal and also claimed that TMC head and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would face a defeat at Nandigram constituency.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi too had on Thursday claimed that Nandigram has shown the path to exit of Banerjee and her government on May 2.
Addressing an election rally in north Bengal, Shah said, "Didi is losing in Nandigram. BJP is winning 50 seats in two rounds of elections held on March 27 and April 1 for 60 seats."
Six districts - Medinipore West and East, Purulia, Bankura, Jhargram and parts of South 24 Parganas went to polling in the first two phases.
Both the phases registered a high polling of over 84 per cent. Nandigram, which went for the polls in the second phase, witnessed some 88 per cent polling on April 1.
Calling the electors to cast vote in large number and ensure massive margin win for the BJP candidates, Shah accused Banerjee-led TMC government of running Bengal on a ‘3T model’.
The three T’s are “tanashahi” (dictatorship), “Tolabazi” (extortion), and “Tushtikaran” (appeasement),", he alleged.
"But PM Modiji will run Bengal on a ‘3V model’ – ‘Vikas’ (development), ‘Vishwas’ (trust) and ‘Vyapar’ (business),” Mr Shah stated.
"After May 2, the double engine BJP government I will close this cut money and Syndicate Raj in West Bengal where every people will get benefit according to party's Sankalpa Patra - election manifesto."
Shah said amid slogan of Jay Shree Ram and Vande Mataram.
" Didi only thinks of her nephew ( Abhishek Banerjee MP). She thinks of his welfare. Don't worry about it. Modiji will do the welfare of North Bengal," said Shah.
He assured that the new government would ensure free education from KG to PG and travelling for the women and new health infrastructure like setting up an AIIMS at Coochbehar will be built in Kochbihar, besides the Ras Mela in Cooch behar will be taken to the international level at a cost of Rs 500 crore investment.
A large memorial to Thakur Panchanan Varman will be constructed at a cost of Rs 250 crore and Tea park will be built in North Bengal to facilitate marketing in this international border district.
“I would like to assure you that after May 2 when we will form the government in West Bengal then North Bengal will be our topmost priority. As promised in our manifesto, we will give Rs 2,000 crores to the North Bengal development board for your development. There’ll also be a battalion of Rajbanshi youth, to pay tribute to Narayani Sena. Cooch Behar is just 700km away from Kolkata but for Didi, North Bengal is 7000km from her heart,” he said.
Highlighting the BJP’s road map in North Bengal, he said, besides setting up an AIIMS and one central university in North Bengal. There will be ‘Kadambini Ganguly Health Infrastructure Fund’ with a corpus of Rs 10,000 crore to ensure that every district has a government medical college along with the district hospital and block health care attached with ‘Jan Aushadi Kendra’.”
Shah also assured setting up of a training centre for the “Narayani Sena Battalion” will be named after Chila Roy (Prince and younger brother of King Nara Narayan of Koch Dynasty).
He also pledged to fulfil the dream of ‘Sonar Bangla’ in West Bengal in five years.
