CBI summons Bengal minister Sujit Bose in municipality recruitment scam case

Kolkata/UNI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing into the alleged recruitment scam in several West Bengal municipalities, has summoned West Bengal Fire Brigade Minister Sujit Bose.

Bose, a top Trinamool Congress leader, has been asked to appear before the investigation officials at its city office, Nizam Palace, at 11 a.m. on August 31, official sources said on Thursday.

The summons happened after the anti-corruption wing of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seized several incriminating documents during raids on at least 14 civic bodies (municipalities) and found evidence of links between some influential officials in recruitment procedures, sources added.

Earlier the ED took over the investigation of the money trails after the Calcutta High court directed the CBI to probe the alleged recruitment irregularities in many municipalities.

The state government challenged a Calcutta High Court order, which the Supreme Court upheld, reversing the decision.

Bose, the MLA representing the Bidhannagar Municipality, was vice-chairman of the South Dum Dum municipality in 2016.
