Delhi will now give pulse meters to Covid-19 patients: Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi/IBNS: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said his government will now be giving pulse meters to all Covid-19 patients to help them to check their own oxygen levels.

"The Delhi government is now going to give pulse meters to every patient. This will enable patients to check their own oxygen level," Kejriwal told the media.

Kejriwal further said his government has ramped up Covid testing from 5,000 to 18,000 per day.

"Earlier 5,000 daily tests were used to be conducted in Delhi. 18,000 tests are being conducted now," Kejriwal said.

Asking people not to worry about the availability of hospital beds, he said, "7,000 hospital beds are empty right now in Delhi."

India fighting against Covid-19 and China: Kejriwal

Kejriwal on Monday said the country was fighting against two enemies, the pandemic Covid-19 and China.

"The country is presently fighting against two enemies. It is fighting against China and the Covid-19 which has been sent by China. While doctors are battling Coronavirus, our soldiers are fighting against China," said Kejriwal.

Kejriwal's comment came a week after at least 20 Indian personnel were killed by the Chinese military during a skirmish at Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh.

The CM also said the Delhi and central governments would have to work together to defeat the contagion. "If we fight among ourselves, Covid will win. So we will have to fight together," he said.

"The Delhi government and Centre are working together. There is no room for quarrel," said the CM.

Delhi jumps to second spot in Covid tally

With a surge in positive Coronavirus cases in the last one week, Delhi's Covid tally has increased to 59,746 taking the national capital to the second place in the list of most-affected states of the country.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government was in the midst of controversy days ago after the Covid patients were unable to get themselves admitted to hospitals despite the launching of an app to track availability of beds.
