Kedarnath/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lauded Uttarakhand for its "discipline" shown in fight against coronavirus during his visit to Kedarnath.

Addressing people at Kedarnath in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, Modi said, "The discipline shown by Uttarakhand in the fight against coronavirus is very laudable. Overcoming the geographical obstacles, the state achieved the target of 100 percent single dose."

"I express my gratitude to the Uttarakhand government and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami ji and those involved with these projects and taking the responsibility," he added.

Meanwhile,  the Prime Minister inaugurated infrastructure projects and also laid the foundation stone for multiple projects at the Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand.

Reflecting back on the flood which occurred in 2013, Modi said, "The damage (2013 floods) was unimaginable here. But I was able to successfully carry these redevelopment projects here due to my past experience as Gujarat Chief Minister."

"Many saints across the country are awakening spiritual consciousness," he added.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi Sthal at the Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand.

The Samadhi was reconstructed after the destruction in the 2013 floods.
