Govt allows meal services in all domestic flights as Covid cases fall

New Delhi/IBNS: The Ministry of Civil Aviation Tuesday resumed the meal services on all domestic flights as it further eased the Covid-19 restrictions.

Due to Covid-19 curbs, the meal services had been restricted only for flights with a duration of more than 2 hours.

The carriers have been also permitted to provide magazines and newspapers to passengers on board.

The government had barred such services in flights since May last year in order to control the spread of Covid-19.

Nearly a month ago, the domestic airlines resumed flights at 100 percent of pre-Covid capacity after government approval following a steep decline in Covid-19 cases for more than two months and a surge in Covid-19 cases.

The domestic air traffic jumped by 67 percent year-on-year as the total number of passengers in the month increased to 8.8 million, according to credit rating agency Icra, a Money Control report said.
