Indian and Singaporean officials explored new avenues to further strengthen their strategic relationship and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including deeper collaboration between the defence industries of both countries.

The discussions took place during the 16th India-Singapore Defence Policy Dialogue held in Singapore on Thursday. The meeting was attended by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Singapore’s Permanent Secretary (Defence) Joseph Leong.

During the dialogue, both sides reviewed the progress of ongoing defence engagements and held wide-ranging discussions on key areas such as military cooperation, defence industry partnerships, capacity building and regional security issues.

The two countries also explored ways to enhance cooperation in niche and emerging domains, including cyber security, artificial intelligence, maritime security, unmanned systems and advanced defence technologies.

The discussions underscored the importance of innovation-driven partnerships and deeper collaboration in emerging sectors to address evolving regional and global security challenges.

Both sides appreciated the continued cooperation between India and Singapore in regional and multilateral forums, including ASEAN-led mechanisms and the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) framework.

India and Singapore reiterated their commitment to supporting an open, inclusive and rules-based regional security architecture, while promoting practical and constructive defence cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

The dialogue highlighted the importance of sustained high-level exchanges and stronger institutional collaboration in advancing the India-Singapore strategic partnership. Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral defence ties in the years ahead.

During his visit, the Defence Secretary also toured the Digital Operations Technology Centre of the Digital and Intelligence Service of the Singapore Armed Forces.
