Jammu and Kashmir: 3 JeM terrorists killed during encounter in Tral

Srinagar: Three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Nagbaeran Tral region on Saturday, officials said.

Kashmir Police Zone tweeted: "#TralEncounterUpdate: 03 unidentified #terrorist affiliated with proscribed #terror outfit JeM killed. #Search going on. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice."

On a specific information about the presence of militants in the forest area of Nagbaeran Tral, Awantipora in Pulwama, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police, CRPF and Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) early Saturday morning.

An encounter ensued after militants attacked security forces while moving into the forest, a police spokesman said.

He said the entire forest area has been cordoned off and operation was going on when the reports last came in.

Further details are awaited, he added.
