Kolkata/IBNS: Amid agitations at multiple locations across West Bengal over BJP's candidates' list for the forthcoming assembly election in the state, Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah on Monday night chaired an emergency core meeting with the Bengal BJP leaders in a Kolkata five-star hotel, reports said.

According to reports, national-level BJP leaders, including JP Nadda, Shiv Prakash, and Arvind Menon, and state BJP president Dilip Ghosh along with other senior leaders of the party were present at the meeting.

Earlier in the day, hundreds of BJP supporters staged an hour-long protest at Hastings party office against the party's candidate selection and ticket distribution for the forthcoming poll while agitations were also held at multiple assembly constituencies across the state.

The BJP has declared its candidates' list for the first four phases and names of its candidates for the last four phases are yet to be announced.
