Pune/UNI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Laxman Jagtap passed away in Pune here on Tuesday morning following prolonged illness.

Jagtap was sick for the last two years.

His health had been deteriorating for the past six months. In the month of March, his family took him to America for treatment.

He returned home again in April 2022. Feeling continuously unwell, he was admitted to Jupiter Hospital in Baner for treatment.

He is survived by his wife Ashwini, daughter Eshwarya, brother former corporator Shankar and Vijuanna Jagtap.

In the past 35 years in city politics, he has been a four-time corporator and four-time MLA. In 2017, BJP came to single-handed power in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation dominated by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar because of MLA Jagtap.
