| @indiablooms | Feb 10, 2021, at 10:12 pm

New Delhi/UNI: A Delhi court on Wednesday deferred to February 17, the verdict on defamation case filed by former Union Minister MJ Akbar against sexual harassment charges levelled by journalist Priya Ramani.

Justice Ravindra Kumar Pandey of Rouse Avenue Court here deferred the announcement of the verdict reserved on February 1 as some written submissions were submitted late to the court on Wednesday.

In 2017, during the #MeToo movement, Ramani had alleged that in 1994, she was sexually harassed during a job interview by Akbar for national daily Asian Age, where he worked as a journalist that time.

Ramani, was the first one to press sexual harassment charges against Akbar. Soon she was followed by several other women.

Akbar, who was an Union Minister, resigned from the post, but rejected all the charges and filed a defamation case against Ramani.
