Narendra Modi arrives in Haldia to unveil development projects

Kolkata/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the city airport from Assam to unveil a slew of development projects in the port town of Haldia in Medinipur (east) on Sunday afternoon.

Soon after his arrival, he was taken into a helicopter for Haldia for some official functions there.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is unlikely to attend the official programme there as a note from the CMO was communicated to the PMO.

This industrial town of East Medinipur in West Bengal is agog with the first ever visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will unveil development projects, which can generate employment and bring rapid progress in industrialisation in this part of India.

"Tomorrow (Sunday) evening, I would be in Haldia, West Bengal. At a programme there, will dedicate to the nation the LPG import terminal built by BPCL, " Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his tweet on Saturday.

"Will also dedicate to the nation Dobhi–Durgapur Natural Gas Pipeline section of the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga project, " the PM maintained.

"The foundation stone of the second Catalytic-Isodewaxing unit of Haldia Refinery will be laid, " he said.

"A Four-Lane ROB-cum-Flyover at Ranichak, Haldia on NH 41 would also be inaugurated, " Modi elaborated.

Mr Modi is expected to land at Kolkata airport around 1510 hours on Sunday.

From the city airport, the Prime Minister would come to Haldia and attend his first political programme of the BJP in the poll bound Bengal and then attend official programmes before returning to Kolkata airport.
