Bhopal/IBNS: Three children died after a fire that broke out at the children's ward of a hospital in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.

"Three children have died in the accident at Bhopal's Kamala Nehru Hospital, instructions have been given for a high-level inquiry into the incident. The investigation will be done by ACS Public Health and Medical Education Mohammad Suleman," Chouhan told reporters.

The fire broke out at around 9 pm and eight to ten fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames, Fatehgarh Fire Station in-charge Juber Khan told the media.

Visuals from the hospital showed shocked parents breaking down on the stairs after escaping from the ward where the fire broke out.

Calling the incident "very sad", Chouhan has directed the administration to take necessary action to bring the situation under control.
