The Lok Sabha MP from Jadavpur claimed that last week one Debanjan Deb, who impersonated as an IAS officer and a joint commissioner of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), contacted her and requested her to join and promote a free vaccination drive in Kasba area where she resides.

"I was informed that the vaccination camp had been organized for the third gender community as well as poor people, and I had agreed to join them and to promote the drive," the 32-year-old politician said.

"I personally visited the camp and took a Covishield dose from the drive to encourage people," she added.

Chakraborty said that she had started doubting the authenticity of the camp when she did not receive either any text message or CoWin certificate, even a day after taking the vaccine.

Later on Wednesday morning, police from Kasba Police Station stopped the vaccination camp, which was being run for the last 10 days without any permission.

The city police also arrested the accused, Deb, and seized a fake identity card, a vehicle with false stickers, WB government's special Biswa Bangla flag and blue beacon, and several other fake documents from his possession.

A senior Kolkata Police official said that a high-level probe had been initiated into the matter.
