Dubai/IBNS: United Arab Emirates will lift restrictions on the entry of passengers from India and five other countries, the National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA) said on Tuesday, according to media reports

Though restrictions on Indians travelling to UAE still continue, Indians with valid residence permit and completed vaccination, at least 14 days prior to the travel, are included in the exempted category.

The UAE administration has said people in certain job categories can seek permission for travel even if they are unvaccinated.

The job categories include medical workers, teachers at schools and universities in the Emirates, students, residents with extenuating circumstances, people undergoing medical treatment in the UAE and people who work for federal or local government agencies.

Passengers will have to apply for online entry permits before to travelling and would be required to present a negative PCR test taken 48 hours prior to departure.

The five other country's for whom UAE has relaxed restrictions are Pakistan, Nigeria, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Uganda.

NCEMA also allowed passengers who are travelling from other countries where flights have been suspended temporarily to transit through its airports from Thursday provided they produce negative PCR tests taken 72 hours prior to departure.

Such travellers will also need to present final destination approval to transit through UAE.
