UP: Woman shocked after Rs.10 crore suddenly appears in bank account—What happened next?

A woman in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh was left stunned after discovering that nearly Rs. 10 crore (over USD 100 million) had been mistakenly credited to her bank account.

Sita, who holds an account with the Bank of India, chose not to withdraw any of the money and waited for the issue to be resolved.

According to her family, the unusually large amount of Rs. 9,99,49,586 appeared unexpectedly, leaving them shocked, India Today reported.

Her son, Arun Kumar, said he first noticed the discrepancy when he visited an ATM to generate a PIN and check the account balance.

“I checked the balance and it was very high, around Rs.9 crore. We don’t know whose money it is,” he told the news channel.

Sita also expressed confusion over the sudden credit, saying she had no idea how the funds were transferred into her account.

“We don’t know how this money came. Whoever it belongs to should take it back,” she told the news channel.

Her husband, Farzan, said the family intends to visit the bank and return the money once it reopens.

Meanwhile, a video of the ATM balance check has gone viral on social media.

Officials at the Bank of India’s Sultanganj branch in Uttar Pradesh have attributed the incident to a 'technical error'.
