Uttar Pradesh: Govt officer booked for sexual assault

Deoria: A case of sexual assault was lodged against the Tehsildar of Rudrapur on the complaint of a woman on Wednesday, a senior police officer said here.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Sankalp Sharma said the victim has alleged that Tehsildar of Rudrapur Abhay exploited her mentally and sexually on the pretext of getting married.

"On the complaint of the woman a case has been lodged against the Tehsildar under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and further legal action is being taken by the police," he said.

Police said the woman reached the office of the Tehsildar on Tuesday afternoon during which they had altercation over some issue.

After coming out of the office the woman accused the Tehsildar of exploiting her sexually and claimed that she had evidence, police added.
