Raksha Bandhan performs poorly in box office on day 1, earns Rs. 8 cr only

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar starrer big-budget Hindi film Raksha Bandhan performed poorly on the opening day, earning little over Rs. eight crore Thursday.

The film has earned Rs. 8.20 crore.

Film critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#RakshaBandhan has a disappointing start on Day 1... Mass circuits perform better [good occupancy in evening shows], but metros are extremely weak... Biz needs to grow/jump from Fri-Sun to improve its prospects... Thu ₹ 8.20 cr. #India biz."

Raksha Bandhan, which deals with the dowry system, also stars Sadia Khateeb, Deepika Khanna, Smrithi Srikanth and Sahejmeen Kaur in the lead.
