Iraq: Fire breaks out in COVID ward, over 50 die

Nasiriya: Over 50 people died as a fire broke out in a COVID-19 isolation ward at a hospital in Iraq's Nasiriya city, media reports said on Tuesday.

The blaze at the Al-Hussein hospital in the southern city of Nasiriya was brought under control late on Monday, reports BBC.

The cause of the fire is still not known.

Iraqi PM Mustafa al-Kadhemi ordered the arrest of the head of the hospital. Relatives of patients have been protesting outside the building,reports BBC.
