Moscow, May 19 (Sputnik/UNI) More than 950 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from neighboring Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defence Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring said on Sunday.

"Over the past day, in total 967 people returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states: 408 people (including 123 women and 208 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh CPs [checkpoints], and 559 people (including 168 women and 285 children) from Jordan via the Nassib CP," the center said in its daily bulletin.

Syrian engineering units destroyed 91 explosive devices, the center added.

According to the UN Refugee Agency data, about 5.6 million Syrian refugees have fled to neighboring states and beyond since 2011, while millions more remain displaced inside Syria.
