Trump signals 'final decision' on Iran deal as Hormuz tensions rise

In a post on social media, Trump said he would be meeting in the Situation Room to decide whether to move forward, emphasizing that Iran must permanently abandon nuclear weapons ambitions and ensure free passage through key shipping routes.

Iran nuclear issue and shipping demands

Trump claimed that Iran must agree to the “immediate removal” of mines in the Strait of Hormuz and allow uninterrupted maritime movement through the region.

He also said a US naval blockade of Iranian ports would be lifted to allow oil and commercial tankers to resume operations.

However, there was no independent confirmation that any agreement had been reached, and it remained unclear whether Iran had accepted the terms or whether any blockade had actually been lifted.

Uranium stockpile removal proposal

In his remarks, Trump also stated that Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles would be “unearthed” and destroyed under coordination involving the United States, Iran, and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

He suggested this would be part of a broader framework aimed at preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons capability.

Financial terms still unclear

Following reports that Iran had sought financial compensation for wartime damage, Trump rejected the idea of monetary payments.

“No money will be exchanged, until further notice,” he said, adding that only “items of far less importance” had been agreed upon.
