London, Jun 2 (UNI): The UK Border Force intercepted a total of 74 migrants, who were trying to cross the English Channel into the United Kingdom, local authorities confirmed.

UK lawmaker Charlie Elphicke was quoted on Saturday as saying that the migrants were coming on "a record number of boats arriving in a single day," reported BBC.

Meanwhile, UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid expressed his concern over the incident.

"The number of migrants crossing the channel overnight is deeply concerning and I’m receiving regular updates on the situation. Those who choose to make this dangerous journey across one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world are putting their lives in grave danger - and I will continue to do all I can to stop them," said Sajid Javed.
