UK set for a Hung Parliament: exit poll

London, Jun 9 (IBNS): The United Kingdom is set for a Hung Parliament, according to an exit poll, reports said.

The snap election, which was called by British Prime Minister Theresa May to strengthen her position in dialogues with the EU about Brexit, might go against her.

Though May's Conservative Party is expected to win the most number of seats, albeit without achieving the majority, the Labour Party will gain the maximum, exit poll trend showed.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Corbyn, whose Labour Party is expected to gain from this election, has urged May to quit.

May however said that the country needs stability.

"At this time more than anything else, this country needs a period of stability," she said.

"And if, as the indications have shown and if this is correct that the Conservative Party has won the most seats and probably the most votes, then it will be incumbent on us to ensure we have that period of stability - and that is exactly what we will do," she added.
