San Jose/IBNS: Popular video chat app Zoom is down as several users reported facing problems with video and audio output during their online meeting sessions on Sunday, media reports said.

The app has seen a spike in the number of users ever since COVID-19 related lockdowns occurred across the globe.

Independent outage monitor Down Detector UK has registered a huge spike in Zoom down reports. Out of those affected some 70 per cent are having issues with Zoom's video conferencing services, reported Express.

According to the Down Detector outage map the Zoom issues are mainly affecting users in the UK, Europe and parts of the US, reported the newspaper.

Independent outage monitor Down Detector UK tweeted: " Zoom is having issues since 9:57 AM BST. http://downdetector.co.uk/status/zoom/ RT if it's down for you as well #zoomdown."

Zoom's official Twitter account did not comment on the issue so far.

Netizens also said they are facing problem using the app.

One Andrew said: "So Zoom is down in the UK. First time the church broke the internet!"

Another Pawan said: " Zoom application is down today. I experienced a problem while conducting a meeting where more than 100 attendees were expected and only few were able to join. There was problem with chat, voice and screen share. I had to abort meeting."

Zoom reacts:

A Zoom spokesperson said: “Zoom users impacted by an issue hosting and joining Zoom Meetings and Zoom Video Webinars should now be able to host, join, and participate in these sessions. We are continuing to assess this matter that impacted a subset of our users and will monitor to ensure no further operational impact. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused.”
