Australia's Telstra Health acquires IdeaObject
New Delhi, Dec 18 (IBNS): The business of Indian based health software developer IdeaObject has been acquired by Telstra Health, the eHealth business unit of Australia's largest telecommunication and technology company.
IdeaObject currently employs more than 50 staff in their development centre in Chennai and develops a host of products for large acute care facilities including its comprehensive Cloud Hospital Information System (‘C-HIS’), which is currently deployed in approximately 250 hospitals and clinics across India, Thailand, Malaysia and the UAE.
The IdeaOject business along with the business of Cloud9, an Australian based eHealth cloud software developer which has also been acquired by Telstra Health, will be integrated into Telstra Health, with this work commencing immediately.
Jim Flynt, currently Telstra Health’s General Manager of Health Applications, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Cloud 9, while the existing Indian executive management team will continue to have responsibility for the day to day operations and product development activities, as C-HIS is integrated into the broader Telstra Health strategy.
“The acquisition of both C9 and IdeaObject helps to strengthen our next generation Hospital Information System offerings to our healthcare customers whilst building on a strong Asian footprint," Flynt said.
“The solution is incredibly full featured and includes, among others, key clinical ancillary solutions such as pathology, pharmacy and radiology. Beyond this, the solution is fully cloud enabled and embraces contemporary industry interoperability standards."
“From its inception, the product was designed from a true global perspective in a way that accommodates many of the market idiosyncrasies that have plagued the hospital sector for decades – especially the large off shore incumbent vendors; such as a need to support multiple languages, date formats, currencies and workflows. The system is also highly configurable which supports a much smoother, quicker and less costly implementation."
“Aside from the world-class technology that these solutions offer on their own, we see real value from the people behind them and are delighted that all staff will be transferring across to Telstra Health and continue to bring innovation and eHealth solutions to the healthcare system,” Flynt said.
Telstra is Australia’s largest technology and telecommunication company and the tenth largest telecommunication company globally by market capitalisation. It has more than 33,000 employees globally with a market cap in excess of A$65bn and operations in 19 countries, including 12 in Asia.
Telstra formally launched its eHealth business, Telstra Health, in October this year with the ambition to become a leading provider of global integrated eHealth solutions.
Telstra Health has software solutions for hospital, pharmacy, general practice and specialist doctors, radiology and pathology, aged and residential care and telemedicine.
