Indian Market: Sensex spurts 1147.76 pts

Mumbai/UNI: Extending rally for the third straight session, the BSE Sensex on Wednesday rallied by 1147.76 pts to end strong at 51,444.65 on firm Asian Market.

The Nifty too rose by 326.50 pts to 15,245.60.

The Sensex edged up by 442 pts to 50,738.21. It rallied by 1243 pts to 51,539.89, days high before closing at 51,444.65, up by 1147.76 pts from its previous close.

The sensex registered days high and low at 51,539.89 and 50,512.84 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at

15,273.15 and 14,995.80 pts.

The equity market remained robust because of improved economic situation, stability in bond yields globally, and 'buy on dips' strategy worked in the favour of the bulls.

The sectoral indices like Energy, Bankex, Finance, Materials and Metal kept the rally intact for the third day.

Scrips that glittered were Bajaj Finserv, Reliance industries, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank and HDFC.

The Mid Cap rose by 1.45 pc and Small Cap by 1.34 pc.

In 30 scrips, 26 advanced, 3 declined and 1 unchanged.
