Mumbai, Jul 19 (IBNS): The Indian benchmark indices ended on a positive note on Tuesday after some choppy trading, with Sensex up 40.96 points to 27787.62 and Nifty up 19.85 points to 8528.55.

The market continues to watch over several factors, such as decisions taken during the Monsoon session of the Parliament, including passage of the GST Bill and the June quarter earnings results of the various companies.

Some of the top gainers on Tuesday included ICICI Bank, Lupin, Tata Steel and TCS while some of the key losers were HL, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank and Coal India.
