Union government registers ICSI as insolvency professional agency

Kolkata, Dec 7 (IBNS) : The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), at a recent press conference in Kolkata, highlighted their achievements and spoke about their vision and mission for the upcoming days.

Top office-bearers of ICSI, CS Mamta Binani, President, CS Santosh K Agarwala, Council Member, CS Sandip Kr Kejriwal, Chairman, Eastern Indian Regional Council (ERIC) were present on the occasion.

President Mamta Binani said, "The Institute of Company Secretaries of India is a premier national professional body constituted under an Act of Parliament in 1980. It is fully engaged in the propagation and promotion of company secretaries as governance professionals. It has over 45,000 members and about 4,00,000 students."

With the the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board (IBBI) becoming operational, the insolvency resolution process will be regulated under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016.

Regulations for insolvency professional agencies (IPAs) and insolvency professionals (IPs) have been notified will come into force on Monday.

The board has given registration to Institute of Company Secretaries of India to function as IPAs, said Binani.

Members also spoke about their course on International Taxation, Spice Forms and their monthly book- Pratibimb among other things.
