Rhino population in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park grows to 2613

Kaziranga: The population of one-horned rhinoceros touched 2613 in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park and it has increased by 200 over the last four years, officials said on Tuesday.

The rhino counts at Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve stands at 2613.

It comprises of 866 males, 1049 females, 273 unsexed, 279 juveniles and 146 calves.

The three-day rhino population census, which was started from Mar 26, concluded at the national park on Monday.

Ramesh Gogoi, DFO of Kaziranga National Park said 2613 rhinoceros were counted, which is an increase of 200 rhinos over the last count of 2413 conducted in 2018.
