India decides to open civilian nuclear programme to greater scrutiny
"Well, first of all let me confirm to you that the government has decided to ratify the additional protocol to the India specific safeguards agreement," Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said at a press conference here.
He said the move was a signal of India's commitment to abide by 'our international obligations'.
"We had signed this earlier. What we have now decided is to take the next step which is of ratification. This is a signal of our commitment to abide by our international obligations," he said.
