IIT Kharagpur to hold annual convocation; Union education minister is chief guest
Kharagpur (WB)/IBNS: Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan will be the Chief Guest at the 67th Convocation of IIT Kharagpur, according to a release from the premier academic institution.
The Convocation will be held on December 18, 2021 and will be attended by Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Kharagpur.
Various awards will also be presented during the event.
The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Prof. M A Ramlu who served as the founder Head of the Department of Mining Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and occupied other higher positions.
Life Fellow Awards of IIT Kharagpur 2021 will be presented to Prof. Sadhan Kumar De, Former Head of Rubber Technology Center and Dean of Post-Graduate studies in IIT Kharagpur; Prof. Biswa Nath Chatterjee, a former Professor in E&ECE Department, IIT Kharagpur and presently Professor & Academic Advisor of B.P. Poddar Institute of Management & Technology; Puran Chand Dang, founder of the first IIT Alumni Society of the world (IIT-SINE); Gopal Rajgarhia, a chemical engineer and an accomplished industrialist; and Dr. Asoke Kumar Deysarkar, a PHD in Chemical Engineering and successful entrepreneur and owner of ‘Products for People’ in Houston.
Distinguished Alumnus Award 2021 will be presented to Prof. Suresh Chandra Mishra, Chairman of Naval Research Board at DRDO; Commander VK Jaitly, a motivational speaker and consultant who led the technological modernization in Indian Defence Forces; Dr. Mohan Rao, a Food Process Engineering Expert & Chief Science Officer, Rainos Consulting US; Krishan Mohan Khanna, Chairman and Founder of i-Watch think tank & foundation who has worked with Niti Aayog and the Ministry of Agriculture; and Dr. Mukund Padmanabhan, President and Founder of Guru Krupa Foundation and researcher at University of California, Los Angeles.
The graduating batch of 2021 consists of B. Tech, M. Tech and PHD students will also be conferred with their respective degree and medals.
