Rupa Foundation honoured meritorious students with Rupa Genius Awards 2015

Kolkata, Aug 13 (IBNS): Rupa Foundation on Thursday handed over the Rupa Genius Awards to felicitate the efforts of meritorious students across all boards at ICCR.
Twenty six students from CBSE, CISCE and West Bengal Board were felicitated by West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi.

Present during the ceremony as Guest of Honor was West bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjeealong with Mr. P.R. Agarwala, Chairman, Mr. G.P. Agarwala – Vice-Chairman, and K.B. Agarwala – Managing Director of The Rupa Group.

Rupa Genius Awards 2015 was conceptualised by The Rupa Foundation to motivate hard working students to continue with their endeavours.

Amongst twenty six students, ten differently abled students who came out with flying colours despite challenges were also honoured for their hard work.

Students who had achieved the first three positions in the class X and XII board exams were selected. Apart from certificates, a trophy and prize money were handed over to each of the students for their efforts. Students who had secured first position were handed a prize money of Rs 11,000/, second position received Rs 7000/-, and third position received Rs 5,000/-. Ten differently abled students, who had overcome physical and mental disability, chosen on the basis of their performance and scores, were awarded an amount of Rs 11,000 each. This award not only recognises the merits of students who have already done well, but also goes a long way in providing motivation to others who are currently preparing for their board examinations.

Speaking on the occasion, P.R. Agarwala, Chairman, The Rupa Group, said, “We are honoured to have His Excellency Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal and Shri Partha Chatterjee, Hon’ble Minister of Education & Parliamentary Affairs, Government of West Bengal to support the initiative of Rupa Genius Awards 2015. Their presence adds a huge encouragement to all the students for their achievements. We also urge the students to always remember the values they have ingrained from their schools which will help them etch a life embellished with success.”

Appreciating the efforts of the achievers, K.B. Agarwala – Managing Director, The Rupa Group said, “Education is important for the development of individuals and also for the advancement of society. Understanding the importance and need of education for our society, we decided to acknowledge those who have gone that extra mile to achieve excellent results. This will motivate others to follow the same path to excel in life overcoming their hardships. With this first step, we stand committed to keep supporting in similar social causes in the years to come.”
