C-295 aircraft factory reflects new work culture of the country: PM Modi as India gets big defence push
Vadodara/IBNS: Inaugurating the TATA Aircraft Complex in Gujarat's Vadodara, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the C-295 aircraft factory is a reflection of the new work culture of New India.
Modi inaugurated the factory along with Spanish President Pedro Sanchez in Vadodara this morning.
The Prime Minister said, "The factory of C-295 aircraft reflects the new work culture of New India. Two years ago, in October, the construction of this factory began. Today, in the same month, it is ready for the production of aircraft."
"Today it is visible here at what speed India is working, from the idea of any scheme to education. The construction of this factory started only in the month of October 2 years ago. Today, in the month of October, this factory is now ready for the production of aircraft," he added.
A total of 56 aircrafts are there under the C-295 programme, of which 16 are being delivered directly by Airbus from Spain and remaining 40 are to be made in India.
Tata Advanced Systems Ltd is responsible for making these 40 aircrafts in India. This facility will be the first private sector Final Assembly Line (FAL) for military aircraft in India.

Lauding the partnership between the two countries, Modi said, "From today we are giving a new direction to the partnership between India and Spain. We are inaugurating the factory for the production of C-295 transport aircraft. This factory will not only strengthen India-Spain relations, but will also empower the Make in India, Make for the World mission."
"The right plan and the right partnership are important to turn any possibility into prosperity. The overhauling of India's defence sector is an example of the right plan and the right partnership.
"In the last decade, the country made many decisions which led to the development of a vibrant defence industry. We expanded the partnership of the private sector in defence manufacturing and made the public sector efficient...," he added.
Apart from Tatas, leading defence public sector units such as Bharat Electronics Ltd. and Bharat Dynamics Ltd, as well as private Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises will contribute to this programme.
Prime Minister Modi had laid the foundation stone for the Vadodara Final Assembly Line (FAL) in October 2022.
