Mamata to hold all-party meeting over Covid-19 situation in Bengal today

Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will on Wednesday hold an all-party meeting over the Novel Coronavirus situation in her state.

The meeting will be held at state headquarters Nabanna.

This will be the second all-party meeting since the reporting of the first Covid case in the eastern state of over nine crore people.

Congress, the main opposition party in the state assembly, will send its Rajya Sabha MP Pradip Bhattacharya and MLA Asit Mitra to the all-party meeting.

While Surjya Kanta Mishra and Jadavpur MLA Sujan Chakraborty will represent the CPI-M in the meeting, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated its state president Dilip Ghosh and MLA Manoj Tigga for the same, India Blooms learnt.

Despite the criticism of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government for allegedly fudging Covid data earlier, the state has now recorded 62.58% recovery rate which is one of the highest in the country and better than the national figure.

As of Jun 23, 9,218 people have recovered from the contagion while the state has 4,930 active Coronavirus patients.

With 11 new deaths reported on Tuesday, West Bengal's Covid toll touched 580.
