'Worried and concerned': Mamata Banerjee writes to PM Modi after receiving NTA letter for JEE, NEET
Kolkata/IBNS: In a fresh letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday expressed her concern over the conduction of the JEE and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) amid Covid-19 pandemic, after receiving a direction from the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Banerjee wrote, "Today our Government has received a letter from the National Testing Agency for conducting the JEE/NEET examinations starting from 1st September, 2020. We are really worried and concerned."
"I would request you to kindly appreciate the sensitivity of the matter and consider taking necessary action for postponing these examinations until the public health situation becomes conducive again," she said in the letter.

Several pleas were filed in the Supreme Court seeking a postponement of the entrance examinations.
The top court has, however, rejected all the petitions stating examinations can't be deferred indefinitely.
Meanwhile, the students from across the country of 36 states and union territories are protesting against the Centre's decision to carry on with the twin examinations.
