Zomato CEO calls out rival Swiggy for breaching time restrictions: Mumbai Police asks him to reread notification

Mumbai/IBNS: Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal was enlightened by Mumbai Police why Swiggy was not flouting restrictions, when he pointed out to the city police that his rival company was making deliveries even after 8 pm.

"Zomato is prepared to provide the essential food delivery service post 8 pm in Mumbai, but we are not doing so because we are abiding by the letter of the law," wrote Goyal on Twitter Wednesday.

Appending a picture of Swiggy's homepage, he added: "I see our competition is continuing to operate post 8pm. I urge @MumbaiPolice to please clarify the way forward here."

Mumbai Police was quick to respond to Goyal's tweet. They urged him to read the government notification well which explained why Swiggy was acting within the rules.

"It says that Home Delivery is allowed but there is no time limit specified," Mumbai Police clarified while responding to the tweet.

Goyal, in turn, thanked Mumbai Police for their quick response.

The Twitteraties were quick to react to the exchange.
