All Greater Kolkata residents awaiting Covid vaccine second dose can get jab from govt facility
Kolkata/IBNS: The residents of Kolkata and its adjoining areas, who took the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine from a private hospital, will now be able to get the second dose from any government health facility, amid the acute shortage of vaccines across the country.
The West Bengal government has said people, who are residents of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) and Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC), can walk into any government health facility for the second dose of vaccine.
For convenience, the government has tagged each private hospital with a government health facility for both the available vaccines, Covishield and Covaxin.
The residents would be required to carry one photo identification document along with the proof of the first dose of vaccine received (i.e. the SMS received on receipt of first dose).
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has already stated people, who are awaiting the second dose of vaccines, will be first prioritised.
Banerjee has also declared journalists as Covid warriors who are now provided with the first and second doses of vaccine.
